Anatolian Yastik Cushion Cover
Central Anatolia, Turkey·Mid 19th century
$950
The story
Yastik — Turkish for "pillow" — were woven to cover bolster cushions in Ottoman households. Small format, intensely designed: this one carries a central medallion flanked by running vine borders in the madder-and-ivory palette typical of west-central Anatolia. It is one of those objects that rewards close looking. The more time you spend with it, the more geometry reveals itself inside the geometry.
