The story
The dragon rug is one of the rarest formats in the Caucasian weaving tradition — a large-scale composition of interlocking dragons whose scaled bodies and toothed jaws fill the field in a pattern of almost architectural complexity. This example, from the Karabakh region, is woven in a palette of ivory, terracotta, and deep indigo that has softened over time into something quieter and more beautiful than it was new. It belongs in a great room or a museum. Probably both.
