The story
A jewel of the miniaturist's tradition. Hunters on horseback pursue deer through a landscape of flowering trees that no botanist has ever catalogued. The whole scene fits within a gold-leaf border no larger than a book page, yet it contains a world: the lapis lazuli sky, the malachite ground, the warm cinnabar of the horses' blankets. A painting made for a prince, to be held in the hand.
