Tabriz Medallion Rug
Tabriz·Late 20th century
$4,800
The story
Woven in the workshops of Tabriz — one of the oldest rug-weaving cities in the world — this piece carries the classic medallion pattern that has defined the tradition for five centuries. The deep crimson field is balanced by an ivory ground medallion filled with palmettes and arabesques rendered in wool so fine it catches light like fabric. To stand over it is to stand inside a garden that has never existed and always will.
Acquired from a private collection, 1998.
